IDT Workspace

Calculations, tasks and methodology on one board

A workspace for engineering calculations

IDT Workspace brings task tracking, process methodology, a field database, business processes and the calculations themselves together, so an engineering calculation becomes part of the workflow instead of a file on the network drive.

The path with IDT Workspace

The service brings these five systems together in one workspace.

  • Task tracking

A kanban board of engineering tasks with roles and sign-off, so a manager can see the department's workload at any moment.

  • Wiki (process docs)

Regulatory documents and methodologies sit right inside the task card.

  • Database

A single store of field data with auto-fill into calculations: past calculations for an object aren't lost, and can be found and reused.

  • Business processes

Editing and running the company's own standard business processes.

  • Calculation services

Engineering calculations run inside the task itself.

Card

A calculation service with built-in time tracking and multi-user work.

Card = calculation + task + history

A calculation card with parameters, a run button and change history
  • Input data

Well, fluid and depth parameters, pulled from the corporate database.

  • Calculation

The calculation backend runs right inside the card.

  • Result

Charts, tables and an engineering conclusion, right in the card.

  • Communication

Comments, an owner and an approving manager.

  • History

An immutable trail: who changed what, when and on which data. Six months later you can see what the calculation was based on, and you show an audit the same trail.

  • Tied to a real object

Every card is tied to a real object: a well, a pump, a pad, a field. Calculations accumulate on the object, and data is filled in from its record.

Isometric illustration: a library of cards inside the company perimeter; an expert leaves, their method stays as a card, and a new engineer works with the same cards

Knowledge stays with the company

A new engineer works in the same cards and the same processes as experienced colleagues, so no separate onboarding is needed. When an expert leaves, their methodology stays behind as a company card and keeps working.

Business processes as a pipeline

A manager takes a ready-made process template from the library, assigns owners to each node, then watches the status move through the whole chain, down to approval with the full history of every calculation behind it. Ready-made out of the box: the field's monthly operating regime, justifying a well intervention (fracturing, matrix treatment, pump change), sizing equipment after a failure or a change of lift method, calculating a new pad brought in from drilling, periodically reassessing the field's potential, preparing data for project documentation. When a process changes, you edit it immediately, with no months of development work; approvals only happen through the system, so the process can't be bypassed.

Cards as model blocks

Complex models are assembled from simple, reusable card blocks: one PVT card works inside dozens of models, and the result of one card becomes the input for the next: PVT → IPR → ESP. What comes out is a connected model of the object, with calculations referring to one another. The card library grows with every release, a company adds its own cards for its internal methodology and regulations, and a missing calculator can be built to order for a specific task. A card can also become a gateway into the rest of the lineup: a well calculation hands off to IDT Well, and a scenario across a group of wells hands off to IDT Asset, without leaving the workspace.

Bank of engineering cards

  • ESP, gas lift, flowing

Pump models for different lift methods.

  • Sucker-rod pump

    A well model with a sucker-rod pump.

  • Booster pump and motor

Models of the water-injection booster pump and its electric motor.

  • Choke and pipe

Choke and pipeline hydraulics as separate model blocks.

  • PVT — Black Oil

Fluid property calculation using a black-oil model.

  • Compositional model

Fluid property calculation by composition for complex fluids.

  • Telemetry analysis

Time series and anomaly detection from well sensors.

  • Well calculation (VLP, TPR)

Pressure and temperature distribution along the wellbore.

  • Intervention rating and Well-Test

    Evaluating and ranking well interventions.

  • Production and economics

Water treatment, process workflow and production economics.

The AI learns from your team's own data

The wiki, business processes and the engineers' work history are all available for the AI to learn from.

  • Answers on process documentation

Answers questions using the company's wiki and methodology.

  • Help with processes

Suggests the next step in a business process and which card to use.

  • Learning from history

Learns from work logs: which calculations, in what order, with what result.

  • Process analytics

Shows where calculations get stuck and which mistakes repeat most often.

  • The base grows with every calculation

Every calculation worked through adds to the training set, so the next suggestions draw on your own company's practice.

What a corporate rollout adds

  • Security

On-premise within the security perimeter, AD integration, a role model, and access split by field.

  • Audit and compliance

An immutable history of calculations, export to corporate reporting, an electronic approval signature.

  • Integration

An API to corporate sources, with connections to the customer's SCADA and databases.

  • Performance

Thousands of calculations a year, dozens of concurrent users, and a priority queue.
